About the Yoga Certification Scheme
What is this scheme for Certification of Yoga Professional?
This is a Government of India scheme by which Yoga Professionals will be certified for their competence to be yoga professionals
Are there different levels of certification?
Yes. There are 2 levels of certification Level 1 – Yoga Instructor Level 2 - Yoga Teacher.
Level 3 will be introduced later on.

What is accreditation?
Accreditation means Certification of competence in a specified subject or areas of expertise, and of the integrity of a person, agency, firm or group, or person, awarded by a duly recognized and respected accrediting organization.
Why is accreditation required
Accreditation is necessary for any person or institution in education or training to prove that they meet a general standard of quality.
How is this scheme operated?
The Scheme will be operated by Abhisti Health & Accommodation Pvt.Ltd.(known as Abhisti), which is an Accredited Personnel Certification Body. Abhisti is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies(NABCB) as per ISO 17024 requirements. Abhisti will accredit and certify Yoga Professionals under guidelines set by the Quality Council of India (Yoga Certification Board). What are the accredited personnel certification bodies?
Accredited personnel certification bodies are organizations or agencies appointed by the Yoga Certification Board under the strictest of guidelines to impartially certify professionals in various fields. There are stringent requirements to be met for examinations, assessments and governance based on ISO 17024 to become an accredited body. Currently Scheme 5 is operational till ISO 17024 is fully implemented.
Examination and Certification Process
How will the certification of yoga professionals be done?
The Yoga professionals will be certified as per the scheme. The Scheme consists of 1. Competency Standards for Yoga professionals 2. Evaluation Criteria for Yoga Professionals. These two documents are available for viewing and downloading on this website.
What is the process of certification?
The yoga professionals desirous of getting certified have to apply for the certification. You can apply online after you go through the section on 'Apply'. You can make a payment online through our portal. These forms and documents are available in the 'apply' section.

In which centers do you conduct the examinations?
We are currently operational in Mumbai. For other Centres, please write to us on support@abhisti.com.
When are the examinations conducted, what is the venue and what is the duration?
You will receive the date and time of the examinations on receipt of your application through email.
What if I am unable to attend on the given date of examination?
If you are unable to attend the examination on the specified date, you can send an email to us within 2 days from the receipt of the mail informing of the dates and venue of examination. You will be given an alternate date. However, only one rescheduling request will be entertained.
What do I carry at the examination center?
You will need to carry a paper and pen, a yoga mat, a printout of the confirmation email and all other documents as mentioned in the section on 'Application'
What does the exam consist of?
The examination will consist of

What are the passing marks for the examination?
The candidate should secure a total percentage of 70% or marks cumulating to 70% from the written and the practical exams. However, in the written exams, less than 50% marks will result in a 'fail status' even if the candidate scores highly on the practical and interview.

Do you prescribe any books or teaching material?
Yes, We do. Yoga Certification Board has come up with the syllabus and reading materials for these examinations. You may order these from us for the e-books. Click here to pay.
Assessments, Results, Validity
Who will assess the written papers?
The written papers will be assessed by a qualified and experienced yoga professional approved by Yoga Certification Board.
Who will assess the the Practical Demonstration and conduct the personal interviews?
These will be conducted by a team of three senior yoga professionals. The candidate will be informed in advance of the team and the candidate will have an option to opt out if there will be any conflict of interest with the team member. The team member should not have taught the candidate in the last 2 years’ time.
How will I know the results of the examination?
You will be sent an email with your results within a maximum of 10 working days.
What happens to the fees if I fail the examinations?

What is the validity of the Certificate?
The certificate is valid for 3 years if you pay as per the Yoga Gold Plan. However, There will be surveillance once or twice within 3 years when your competence will be re-validated.
If you pay as per the Silver Plan, the certificate will be valid for one year only and will be renewed only on payment of yearly fees for the next 2 years as per the Yoga Silver Plan.
Surveillance and Renewal
What does surveillance mean?
Surveillance means a cross check and verification by contacting your clients or place of work or visiting your yoga classes. You will be expected to provide information to carry out such surveillance.
Can my certificate be canceled after surveillance even though I am certified?
Yes. Your certification can be canceled if it is found that you are no longer practicing as a Yoga Professional or we receive any negative feedback. In this case, all the fees paid are non-refundable.
What happens after 3 years?
You need to apply again for re certification after 3 years. Please see the competence criteria and certification process in the downloads section. In case you want to enhance your skills, you can apply for the next level of Yoga Master. Please watch this site for further details.
What If I have any grievance with the process or the outcome?
You may write to us on support@abhisti.com. Our grievance committee will investigate the matter and we will write back to you

What is Registry and how does it work?
Yoga Certification Board will maintain a database of certified yoga professionals
What is the use of this Registry?
If you are a certified professional you can search in the registry and make sure your name is appearing in the registry
1. Employers can verify whether a particular professional is certified by referring to the registry
2. Anyone can request for the list of certified yoga professionals and download
3. Fake certificates can be detected by referring to this registry

Basic demographic information provided by the applicant along with the certification validity dates will be shown
